On my current game, most of my mercs are healing, and I only have 2 marksmen and 1 doc with me, so I want to minimize the damage taken by going stealth. That being said, I have a lot of questions regarding stealth:
1) If I crouch behind a tree/bush, does it make any difference when an enemy walks past?
2) Does sneaking affect the enemy's ability to see you?
3) Does crouching affect the chance of being hit when crouched behind a chair/table?
4) Does Look even do anything at all? For example, if I am hidden out of view of this guy in one corner, and when he walks past me - will he see me if his LOS isn't in my direction? This is strictly assuming there's nothing in front of me to blockade me from view
5) What is sneaking good for, besides not to make noise?
6) What is crouching good for?

1) yes, block his LOS and gives you cover
2) not sure, what i remember sneaking lowers your sound output so he don't hear you
3) yes
4) yes, if you are still there is good chance he won't see/hear you
5) not making noise and lowering chance to be seen
6) better accuracy, better cover
Very nice, thanks, that's gonna help in my combat strategy tonight
Also, how does aiming actually work? I understand there are 4 levels of aiming, and on the 4th level, it is supposed to be the most accurate, but where does this accuracy come into play? Is it supposed to improve your aim only in long distances, or does it affect your aiming when both you and the enemy are behind cover?
I find that I can actually hit more often when I'm using level 1 aim - firstly, I can conserve my action points and possibly have another go at the enemy. Secondly, I just don't see the difference when I put more AP into my aiming. So, how exactly is it supposed to work?
Also, does marksmanship affect your chance to hit, or only the number of AP needed to aim/fire?
i do not remember it exactly, and unfortunately i wasn't able to find JA2 hit chance calculator but....
chance to hit is determined by distance, light sources, marksmanship, weapon accuracy, burst fire or single (in burst fire every next shot in burst gets % to hit down), cower of enemy, your positon (standing, crounching, lying), AP used to aim, use of scope.
hope i remember it all :)
Thanks, I assume most of that applies to JA1 too, since I'm still on JA1? :D

sorry i haven't noticed that we are talking about JA1, i have played JA1 as small kid last time, so i don't know game mechanics in depth, but i suppose that it should be simplified but similar
It's okay thanks anyway!
From memory, it's more likely they hear you coming than they see you coming in JA1.
Ah yeah, I just noticed that too. Thanks
