Hi

I just rebought JA2 yesterday through GoG and ended up playing it all night :).

I am running it on windows 7 32 bit version, and so far i has run fine, but this morning when i tried to load my saved games i gote an error message. For what i can read on the boards i should have run the game with administrator rights, but when i try that it dont show any of my saved games. Is there anyway to restore my games or will i just have to start over again ?

I think i got i solved now i found my saved games in this folder :

C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\GOG.com\Jagged Alliance 2\SavedGames

I copied everything in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\GOG.com\Jagged Alliance 2 over to C:\Program Files\GOG.com\Jagged Alliance 2 to get my settings and saved games working when running under adminstration settings.

You've just encountered the Vista/7 issue with Program Files folders. It is classed as a protected folder and so the OS tries to prevent changes being made to it unless it is during installation. What this does it cause saved games to get placed elsewhere, like the Users folder. Now, for modern games this isn't so much of an issue, but for older ones it is.

The best advice is to never install games to Program Files in Vista or 7 (and presumably this will continue to be the case for future Windows OSes). Create a new folder on the root of your installation drive, say C:\Games\ and install games there. That way, older games will create save games within their own install folder and you shouldn't have these kinds of issues.
