I had the exact same issue, I live in the UK. Got an email saying $2.99, but it's £4.69 - around double the originally stated price. Kept checking back for days, nada.

Clearly GOG gave me the Canadian discount since Canadians are awesome!
Anyway, game is still worth it for 5 €. Or you can wait for another sale I guess. You've waited for almost 10 years anyway.
