I just bought Jade Empire. On the site is written there is a german version, so I bought the game.

I donwloaded the german installation files and installed the game. First of all I wanted to start the config-program to check the settings (graphics & language), but it crashed every time in the middle of gathering my computers' specifications. I saw that the exe of the config-program was started in compatibility mode (Windows XP SP2), so I tried without. This way the gathering of PC specs finishes, but at the end of the gathering process it's crashing as well. Then I tried some other compatibility settings: no change.

All right, so the config program doesn't start at all. Anyway...

So I just started the game and the game is running fine (I was only the main menu yet) but it's all in english. Ingame there are no options to change the language.

So closed the game and started the Language Setup.exe but there is no German for selection (have a look at the attached images). Next I checked the Localization directory. There is every language...but no german. wtf?

As I said in the beginning: I certainly installed the german(!) version.

Next thing I tried was to download the game with the gog-Downloader. I selected "german", started the download and installed it. Same problem...no german there.

My final try was to install the english version but no change. I even did a MD5 check for the installation files (bin-files) and the result is that the german and english installation files are EXACTELY the same!


So is there no german version at all?

I was about to ask the same question and hope we will receive help soonish.
Looking at the older forum entries I assume that at least at one point in the past there was actually a german version.

Hi, thank you for letting us know about the issue.

The German version actually requires a separate installer, which due to a glitch on the site was not being downloaded. If you navigate to your library now, and select German as your preferred language - you should get the right version of the game. :)

I'm downloading it again and the files' names have a suffix "german" now, so it seems the problem has been fixed. I'll give you another report, when installation is done.

edit: Installation is completed and the game is running in german now. Thanks to the support.

Just a short information - the German (PC) Version of the Game was censored: the "Harmonic Combos" were completely removed (or more, their´ "effects" have been removed)
