I seem to have a problem with the (presumably) last flying mission for Kang.
I have seen the cutscene where he recalls that Lord Lao is imprisoned. I went for the flying mission to free him. I tried several times, but I always failed, so I decided to choose Disengage (to come back later), after which I got the Consume Spirit skill (which I maybe shouldn't have).
Then I went to the Arena to finish the championship, and after winning that, I went back to the base camp, I spoke to Kang and I saw that the option to follow his last windmap isn't there (regarding this quest line, I can only ask him to take me back to the furnace).

Now no matter what I do, where I go, I can't ask him to do that last quest.
Is there anything to do? Or will I have to forfeit the conclusion to this quest line?

I'm bumping this thread because the exact same thing just happened to me, and I haven't been able to find a solution anywhere on the web. Does anyone know how to fix this? A little help would be appreciated.

Try contacting support. They may be able to help you. At the very least, they need to be made aware of the problem.

Update! Here's the message from GOG support:

This is a rather difficult problem to investigate, it might just be a bug in the game. First thing I'd ask you to do is double-check with a walkthrough that you have covered every part of the quest already.

If you're sure that you should be able to proceed, and loading up an earlier save prior to the bug is not an option, you can send us your save file for further investigation.

We'll do our best to reproduce the issue and get back to you with any conclusions.***

Sadly, I don't have any saved game left from before encountering the bug. I've sent them my latest save, don't know if they'll be able to do something, as this seems to be a rather complex issue. Nevertheless, I appreciate GOG taking the time to look into the problem.

I will keep updating this thread in case someone else runs into the same problem.

One last update to say that, sadly, there doesn't seem to be a way to fix this bug.

Oh well, this kind of stuff can always happen I guess, and there is not much we can do. At least it didn't break the main quest, and I can still finish the game. Needless to say, my advice to anyone reading this who hasn't reached that part of the game yet is to finish every wind map mission as soon as you get them!

I just finished the last wind map and from what I can tell is that if you fail the last mission you receive Consume Spirit but it you complete it you get two new configurations to use on the furnace. I waited to finish it until I arrived at the palace. I wouldn't call this a bug.

It's a know issue of Jade Empire

If you give up on certain wind maps, especially the last one, you CANNOT do it again

The flag that set the map as done is erroneously set when you begin the mission instead of when is completed successfully, effectively locking you out if that quest

It's this way the the original Jade Empire, gog cannot help you

Only possible solution is to use the kgff editor and the .sac ripper to extract your save and reset the flag back as before accepting this last wind map mission

I do not know the flag name however, you would need to experiment to find out the right one. It probably doesn't worth the effort, just use the save game editor to give yourself the the forge components and activate it

The walk-trough can tell you the exact name and the combination to use them

This is necroing the thread, but whatever maybe it will help some other people that came across this bug.

I've tested it myself and the game became bugged when i picked both configurations of the horse,
you can get one at pirate stronghold and one at minister hostel. when you do the combination for the first time it removes the configuration from the inventory, but if you pick up the second one the game doesn't remove it.

I suspect the game thinks the player hasn't completes the 6 recipes yet thus not triggering the last mission.

So pick just one configuration of the horse and it should work.

I had a similar theory since I did the configurations without getting the instructions first, then picked up the instructions since. But then I used the save editor to delete them and it still doesn't work. I just edited in the eyes of the void instead, but sadly the quest doesnt proceed narratively; the furnace breaks after you use the eyes of the void but Kang doesn't mention it and still talks about it like nothing has changed.

Edit: Just went back to an older save and tested it. The poster above you is right. If you fail the mission and then leave the conversation with Kang, you can never retry the mission again, even if you immediately talk to him again. Bioware quality programming.

I agree. If you fail the first attempt, then Kang will upgrade your dragonfly with Consume Spirit and demand another try. If you don't retry the mission, well at the moment Kang does not know yet about his true identity, and the last mission in his mind is one shot rescue mission, so there will be no other chance next day.

OK, after browsing entire Kang's Dialog tree, then I change my mind. It's a bug!!! I find some dialog with Kang that show there should be another chance to retry the mission, so I make the fix on nexus mod. Anyone interested to grab it, just find it on nexusmod. Thanks.
