Controller works fine o other games, but is not even recognized by JE:SE!

I don't think it supports it at all on any version of Windows. The game was ported to the PC and the control scheme was completely changed. I would prefer the old original Xbox scheme to be honest.

It worked on Windows 7 http://www.gog.com/forum/jade_empire_special_edition/controller_support

The only controller I can get to work is a genuine wired 360 pad with W10. Xbox One and Logitech F310 are having issues.
