Hi,

Did anyone try the game on an old computer?

I have a rather old computer that runs pretty well all sprite-based shooters from the generation of the Build engine classics (Duke3D, Blood, Shadow Warrior...).

As Ion Maiden is based on the same engine, will it be sufficient to enjoy it?

I ask the question because maybe the developers have featured modern graphic effects such as dynamic lighting, high resolutions or extremely big levels and the game demands as much performance as any recent game.

Thank you for your feedback!
The system requirements are listed on the Ion Maiden gog store page under Game Features on the right.

I'll gladly post the system requirements from the page as well to save you a bit of time. :D

Minimum system requirements - Windows: 7 / 8.1 / 10 (64 bit)
Processor: Intel Pentium Dual Core E2220 (2*2400) or equivalent
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 5000+ (2*2600) or equivalent
Memory: 2048 MB RAM
Graphics: GeForce 8600 GT (512 MB) or equivalent Radeon HD 4670 (512 MB) or equivalent
DirectX: Version 11
Storage: 100 MB available space

Recommended system requirements - Windows: 7 / 8.1 / 10 (64 bit)
Processor: Intel Core i3-530 (2*2930) or equivalent AMD Phenom x4 9850 (4*2500) or equivalent
Memory: 2048 MB RAM
Graphics: GeForce GT 610 (1024 MB) or equivalent Radeon HD 6850 (1024 MB) or equivalent
DirectX: Version 11
Storage: 100 MB available space

Edit:

From what I can tell, this game is designed to work on modern systems. I'm not sure about old dos systems.

Thank you for your reply and posting the specs.

I had read them already. But sometimes, they is some margin between what is written and reality.

By the disk space it requires ('100 Mb'), it seems it is a modest game.

My computer does not run on MS Dos, it is just not very recent or powerful ;)
I've found the minimum requirements to be very accurate. For this game CPU is key, I tried it on a older laptop I have that has all the minimum specs but the processor which is a 1.83GHz core2duo and the game performed poorly, but on 3GHz core2duo system worked great. Just need a fast CPU

BUILD is not known for being CPU friendly, even parts of the original shadow warrior needed a pentium 166 to run smoothly even though minimum was a 486. And this is VERY complex BUILD engine game. Needs lots of CPU power

The BUILD engine is not very CPU friendly, yeah. Also the game being 64bit will limit some older HW.

With the current and incoming optimizations you can run it on a pretty low-end (within the past decade) machine decently.

Thats not true!
My very first PC was a Pentium 133 Mhz with 16 MB Ram and a small 2 or 4 (not sure now) MB Graphics Card.
Shadow Warrior was one of my first Shooter. And i enjoyed it on 800x600 with no performance problems.
