putridpete: Dont quote me on this but I remember reading once in a developer discord that when they sent a full release to GOG, they opened the entire thing to curate it and later repackage everything adding their own settings, installers, and other stuff. After they felt it was ready, they put it on the platform.
This is true.
And I'd prefer GoG to get the release right, rather than "fast," if I have to choose between the two.
The problem is, we shouldn't have to choose.
Apparently, from what little I've read, the issue is that someone at 3DRealms provided the files to GoG too late for this to happen, but gave the Steam folks the game files well in advance.
Which, IF TRUE, reeks of illegality, frankly. Not that I expect any one to deal with it in those terms.
The main, real difference between GoG and Steam is where they're located for their main operations. Steam is US-based, as is 3DRealms. GoG is eastern-Europe-based. Poland, I think, isn't it?
So, perhaps the delay has something to do with export issues? That's the only legitimate justification for the delay I can see. And by "legitimate," I mean "in conformance with the law," not "it's reasonable."
putridpete: It's out boys!
No, it's not. I went to the released product page, and downloaded the installer. Installed it. And it's still the "preview campaign."
And Galaxy didn't provide an "update" either.
