I'm just starting out, and I'm making way, way, way too many mistakes. It would have been so awesome to give a new player more than a single "restart turn" function. I'd like to restart the entire map! Come on, let me learn this game without having to live with the stupid, stupid, stupid mistakes I'm making? I've clicked on NEW GAME 20 times now!

I don't care if you take that option away after the first few battles but I can't get INTO the game if it punishes me so hard right from the get-go.
A few options:
1. Play on easy.
2. Plan your turns better.
3. Use the pilot that gives you an additional reset turn.

This game is not easy but all mistakes are avoidable since there's virtually no RNG and turns can be planned ahead.
I'm already playing on easy. But the difficulty of this is just ridiculous. It's one thing to try and plan, but the game throws downright impossible situations at you. On any difficulty, sometimes the only choices you have is what unit you want to sacrifice.

As much as I love the principle of the game, I hate this artificially increased difficulty level. No save option. Permadeath. How is anyone on earth, except a 14 year old south Korean kid perhaps, actually supposed to finish this game? I'm frustrated, it's terrible. I want to love this game, but this is just absolutely devastating. What could have been so much fun is self destructing, because I am constantly seeing a game over screen and have no way to get back. If there was at the very least a save game of sorts to get back to. Even a LIMITED one! One that doesn't save the current map, but the round you had 3 maps ago.

ANYTHING!... would be better than just having nothing at all. Games don't have to have a ridiculous difficulty level to please people. That elitist "casual peasant" accusation, I can already feel it. I'm 42 years old, and I've been playing gazillions of strategy games, from Battle Isle to Panzer General. I know what I'm talking about when I say that a game save mechanism should not be THE limiting factor of enjoyment.

PS: My apologies Hujaman, I know I sound bitter, but it's not directed at you. At all. Thank you for your response! <3

It's the same as FTL on that end. It's a game that really requires you to understand the mechanics; how the different weapons / mechs work.

Stick with it, or watch some videos of players that have more practise - bound to pop up on youtube - and think about WHY things went pearshaped. You'll improve.

The game is not as random as it might seem; not as difficult as you perceive it. But you REALLY need to work with it's mechanics. Unlike FTL it's turnbased and you can take as much time thinking about the situation. You can even undo all moves of your robots (in any turn) - only once they've executed an attack is their position fixed. If you can't visualise what will happen move the unit, press the attack button, aim and all the info is on the screen. If it's not as intended cancel attack, undo move, and try again. There's no limit to how often you use the undo move function - unlike the reset board one.
I will try my best. Sorry for the short reply, but that's really all I can do. Keep at it. :) Thank you.
Here's a little cheat for you. Before starting an island or a mission, just go the the savegame folder of the game (Documents/My Games) and copy the content.

Then, when you made a big mistake that you want to reset, you close the game, delete the current save folder and put the old one in its place.

That should work:) Have fun with the game!
