Count on Sabra to land me in sh*te: idiotic MAS vehicle, idiotic kamikaze allied troops, saves don't work as they teleport the player around, even out of the mech suit (probably conveniently parked at the beginning of the map). I am about to stop bothering with it.

If the developers are reading this, a single plea: sort out the reloads that teleport the player around the map. This is going to bring the game to a whole new level.

I managed to get through this with 1.5 - with a cheat program, which unfortunately doesn't work on 1.6.

Apparently this mission was MUCH easier prior to 1.5 (for one thing, there was no retarded time limit) - it's one of the missions they decided to ridiculously amp up the difficulty on for no reason.

There is a video on steam where someone did manage to complete this without cheating - basically it requires a stupid amount of meta-knowledge of the level.

The main thing seems to be, that there's a section near the end where you need to turn right and kill some dudes - killing these guys apparently stops the timer, allowing you to take your time to kill the remaining dudes. The problem is that getting there within the time limit and without getting shot to shreds isn't even remotely easy, considering how many sneaky fuckers with armor-piercing rounds and grenades there are.

Of course, there's no way whatsoever to know in advance that killing those guys will magically stop the timer, but then again it's completely retarded that there's a time limit in the first place (especially since it conveniently starts at the start of your mission - so the whole time before you get there, they were content to just sit on their ass?).

One thing that helped me get to the end (before I just used the cheat): you can shoot incoming missiles down before they reach you, which in some cases might be easier than dodging them.

Thanks for the info.
Okay, yes, you are right. At the last bigger nest, there where the enemy MAS shows up, it is essential to turn right, not left towards incoming enemies. You wipe those, the clock stops and the mission is over.

It's so great that there's no information or hint that this is what you're supposed to do either. I guess one or more of them may be "leaders" of some sort (I vaguely recall at least one of them possibly having a different description/name than the rest), but it's not like this is really possible to see when there are a hundred guys shooting and throwing things at you.

This was seriously the first time in many years of gaming I ever felt the need to cheat to complete a mission. Sure it's doable once you know what's going on, but one false move and you pretty much have to restart the whole thing (since saving during the mission doesn't work like it should).

Haha, look, when confronted with multiple failures, one should start thinking out of the box ... which we didn't. If there wasn't for your input I would have probably just given up on the mission. On the other hand, there are so many technical annoyances distracting from the action flow in this particular mission that it is not easy to focus and think about the possibilities.

Yeah, this game is full of "technical difficulties", but having a mission like that, with a shit-ton of enemies AND a harsh time limit definitely doesn't help. Probably one of the most frustrating missions in a game I've played in many years. Which came about due to a combination of the game having issues, but at the same time enough promise to make the attempt in the first place.

The bizarre thing is that the missions I expected to be really difficult ended up being hilariously easy. I'm thinking of the "combat arena" missions - all this hype about how these guys are hard-core, and it's so difficult, and then you take the dudes out in 10 seconds without them getting a hit in.

In contrast, another one I thought was quite hard was this one-on-one melee fight against some dude who apparently couldn't be hurt with anything except melee weapons. While this was true, it turns out you have to actually destroy other stuff in the room first before you can damage the guy - took me a while to figure that out, and even then it was touch and go since I did that relatively early on (that and my character was definitely not melee oriented). That one at least was rewarding to finish, not to mention the guy's armour was awesome enough to be used for most of the rest of the game.
The Mainproblem is the RNG.

After several trys i could rush the mission with ease...what happend...9 off 10 times my first support squad got killed by a rocket before i even entered the MAS...so i was on my own during the first part, 6 out of 10 times half of the 2.squad killed himself by running onto the mines..and so on.
Being mostly alone i ended up always being short on time before the final assault or being nearly death.

Then...the rocket hit the barricade killing renegardes instead of my squad...with support i could rush to the 2. squad and open fire early, killing the renegardes behind the barricade before the quad could kill the looners and charged into the mines...being backed up like this the mission was easy. I ended it with 70% health and over 3min left but it was a lucky strike...i didn't felt earned.

I finally managed to complete this without cheating. What I did was use the MAS for the vast majority of it, ensuring that my support squad was always catching up to me and not getting slaughtered, then right near the end where you magically have to know you need to turn right to get to the magic spot that magically kills all enemies and stops the timer, I was usually getting my MAS wrecked.

This time, while I had a sliver of health left on the MAS, I hid behind a beam and exited it. There were about 1 dozen or so enemies in front of me, but they were surprisingly bad at hitting me once I was out of the MAS. So I generally picked them off with rifle shots, then crept close used a roll with SMG attacks to take the rest of them out. Then I just ran toward the bunch of bombs and then BOOM - the magic invisible barrier was reached, magically killing all enemies and stopping the timer.

At least there was lots of loot for this mission.

But that still doesn't make up for it.

Whoever came up with this mission should be shot, or at least crippled such that they can never design or develop a level for any game ever again.
