I just tried to post this but it evidently failed, so I apologize if it pops back up and there are duplicates.

Succinctly: I have a 23 inch monitor with a maximum resolution of 1680x1050. That's too small for the UI/text.

For those who are using similar new widescreen monitors, and have spent hours playing, I'd appreciate input on which resolution you find most enjoyable for a balance of graphics and little eyestrain/headache.

Thanks in advance.

I'd suggest creating a custom resolution of half the native resolution for your monitor. That will effectively double the image without any distortion. For 1680x1050 you would want to use 840x525.

Edit 1: I'm not sure how Inquisitor will work with a resolution that small so you might want to experiment with 2:3 pixel ratio, 1120x700, as well. That hopefully should work better if 1:2 messes up the UI.

Edit 2: 800x600 is the lowest resolution Inquisitor will let you set, so 1120x700 is what you want. I've tested it, works great!
