How do my NPC followers gain experience? As far as I can tell, they need to kill enemies to gain experience and level up. That means they take way too long to bring to my level, and they become a hindrence because it is faster to kill enemies myself than let them kill to level up themselves.

Is there a cheat or console or strategy that allows me to manually give them XP? I like them and do not want to play the game alone.

I don't think there is a way to manually level up your followers and they really become a hindrance gradually and you will probably have to let them go. At least, that is what I had to do in the end.

This is probably way too late, but you should be able to use Cheat Engine to modify the NPCs if I'm not mistaken.
