Okay, I'd be happy if someone could help me without any spoilers!

Basically, I accused Edmond D'Arvias of heresy, and went looking for him. I found him in the upper right corner of the first map and talked to him. I listened to him and now I don't want to arrest him (I didn't use that option, I even offered to help with his sword).

Now, in case I prove his INNOCENCE (if it is so!), will the charges automatically be dropped etc.?

Cheers!

Hmm, interesting question. I'd assume mistakenly accusing someone doesn't mean all that much; You don't have to follow up on it (you don't have to arrest the person you've wrongly accused), and neither do you have to prove his or her innocence. You can just go and accuse (and arrest) the person you feel is actually guilty.
Cheers for the reply! I actually went with loading the game before I accused him. :)
