Hi,

I'm curious on how well you all feel the English version is, text wise. I was a proofreader on the game and wouldn't mind hearing some feedback on the grammar and dialogue overall.

Thanks :)
All in all good. There's an occasional wrong word or something that just sounds off but overall this is far better than some translations I've seen. I read a Japanese to English translation last night that literally killed some brain cells.
I'm not good with grammar, but I hadn't any problems with understanding the dialogues. And the story is amazing, i spent first three hours reading everything all the characters had to say and wasn't bored, so I think you people did great job ;]
You were? That's pretty cool. English is not my native language obviously but I know enough to find one or two mistakes here and there but it doesn't bother me as long as I understand the context. Some mistakes are actually funny.

I am indeed, I'm on the credits, Morgan Winter.
oh yeah, for today's game translation standard, this one is really great.
I've seen a lot of triple A games with budget in the millions with translations you could barely read.
Here, well as some have said, a mistake here and there, but nothing which made my eyes bleed.
As so far as I've gotten I'd say you've done an awesome job.
The only instance that I found notable was the word 'backbone' being used to describe the spine of a book, and I can see how easily that mistake could be made in translation. Really though, it's all very well done, I'm impressed.
The writing so far is quite excellent! It is very nuanced and is among the best 'wall of text' game writing I have seen in a video game. There were some limitations that the editor had to work with. For example the translator could not modify the dialogue trees, just the text itself. Sometimes quest details are a little unclear in dialogue and the journal, but by paying attention and a little logic these are normally resolved.
As others have noted, there is an occasional mistake, or awkward turn of phrase, but overall the translation is better than most games that originated in a language other than English.

And yes, the little errors are sometimes quite funny... like the dying character who says he can hear the golden "hornets" of the angels playing beautiful music. :-)

I make my living as an editor, and I can say frankly I've seen far worse translations in academic journals. So, proof readers, give yourselves a pat on the back. Well done.
As others have said I find the overall quality good, but I'm finding the translation quality uneven. For example, in Act 1 I noticed only a few mistakes or awkward phrases but in Act 2 there is an obvious 'accent' to some of the dialogues which I found quite noticeable.

A common error in the dialogue for this game is repeating parts of the question in the answer. For instance, if I ask "Do you know the way to the bank?" In real life, one would answer, "Yes it's on the corner of 8th and H street." In the game, the reply would be, "The way to the bank is to go to the corner of 8th and H street." Adding "the way to the bank" is redundant and makes for extra long sentences.

This is a very minor issue, but it is noticeable and happens very frequently.
