ive acquired plate armor some time ago and just got lv 18 which allows me to be journeyman in armor but it still dont allow me to equip it :|
im lv 18 paladin
90 strenght
13 armor use (with ring that gives me +2 to non magical skills)

armor requirement is journeyman and nothing more yet still it says "your skill is not high enough..." wich is nonsense because ive got everything neede to be journeyman in armor use.

I got the same problem, if you still have some points to use make a savegame and try to push your strength and/or your armor use skill. Was the solution for me

I have observed that for calculations only REAL (not green) stats matter.
You could have 90 STR but that's from 10 BASE (white) +80 from rings, weapons etc.
If the requirement is 15 STR you don't have it !!! and MUST invest attrib points to increase it.

With your character NAKED, can you still qualify for Journeyman?
This is where the games inconsistency can be confusing. The opposite is true of spell ranks. You can have 6 in a spell school thanks to equipment and you can scribe and cast a spell from the second rank. Unless I had 7 at one point and lost a point somewhere.. hrmm.. now I want to test this.
that's strange. because for learning magic green bonis are calculated.

i figured this out. items bonus to stats dont allow you to become journeyman etc but bonus to skills allows which is wierd.
thanks to my ring that gives +2 to skills i have few 6lv and their bonuses are applied but i still need raw stats without bonusses from items.
inconsistency is the word that suits this situation as lothar69 said.
