I couldn't find an answer to this anywhere, so maybe one of you know how this works.
In act 1 I was told I could become a commander (I play paladin). How does this happen?
I'm in act 2 now, and I'm wondering if I missed something. I noticed that right before entering act 2 it said 'quest canceled' twice in the little info window.

Any help appreciated!

You were supposed to give Edmond D'Arvias his sword back (I think you can find it somewhere in the iron mines).

If you do so, you will be promoted to the rank of commander, if you sold the sword, there's no chance to complete the quest. No idea if the quest automatically gets canceled when you go on to act 2.
