Expected a historrical story driven third person game.

Settinbgs are extremely basic, crappy pixelated text & no key rebinds.

New Game start, and it's upscrolling falling character Pixellated POS, cookie collecter bait & switch.
At first I thought, it was just a dumb loading screen, but after a minute or so it became cleat this was the game.
Is this some sick joke?

Same here. You want to build arcade minigames into an adventure, you make them skippable and incidental, not block the game with them. And I'm not sure if the cookie collector is even solvable, given the horizontal distances between some of the (randomly generated?) cookies.
