Win 7 x64, Fullscreen, 1280x1024, AMD R7 260x, Crimson 18.8.1

Using the in-game option menus (save, load, Audio...) creates huge problems.
A small window (e.g. for choosing save location, inaccessible) will appear in the background, and the foreground game window will freeze, with the windows mouse pointer over it. Alt-tabbing to the background window will minimize both windows, never to come up again. I have to kill the game via task manager then.

Any tipps? Thanks a lot!

This is a huge problem with the game running in widescreen mode on older machines. You might try changing your resolution, maybe use the default resolution and see if that helps, then increase the resoluition untilk it starts failing.

I wish I could help more.
Well, thanks a lot, but 1280x1024 is not a widescreen resolution, it's 5:4.
You think a 4:3 aspect ratio could help? What might be the "default resolution"?
Well this posting on gamefaqs says to set a resolution 1024x768 or below. 1024x768 is a 4:3 aspect ratio resolution. The default resolution for the game is 640x480. You could try 1024x768.

1280x960 if you want the same horizontal resolution, but you would need to make sure that the display scaling is set up so that it doesn’t stretch to 5:4, which might be hard to do if using VGA. (Of course, if you are using a digital cable or a CRT, this should be less of a problem)
1280x960, 1024x768 and 640x480: Same problem.
Strangely, the "Help" menu option is able to correctly minimize the game for a help screen window, and maximize it again after closing the help screen.

Solution:
Copying the dgVoodoo2 files into the resource folder solves the problem.
So, looks like the ddraw.dll file provided with the game might be the culprit in this case.

edit: If you try this, be sure to rename the existing ddraw.dll file beforehand.
