Hello!!

I'm new to this game and was wondering if any of you could help me.

First off, is their a way of saving mid mission. I've had to quit quite a few missions multiple times due to bugs or mistakes. I'm up to the Morgan mission, although I enjoyed the fact I had to use spacial awareness to plant the mines correctly it is rather time consuming. When the second part begins I've failed because of a bug with the boarding party refusing to dock. The next time I died to the enemy ships seconds after the mines detonated. A save feature would be REALLY damn useful.

Second, a silly newbie question; how do I change the power settings for Weapons/Shields/Engines. After one or two shots the canons offers nothing more than a tickle to the enemy armour.

Hi,

It isn't possible to save midmission, perhaps if this game were to be run in some sort of emulator it would be possible to make savestates but sadly this is not the case.
As for the powermanagement I think it was Ctrl plus the arrow keys, you should be able to see in the engineerscreen where the power goes, I think you could also use the mouse in the engineer screen.

Though the hitdetection is reported to be influenced by the framerate, where very high fps gives bad hitdetection.
It was said that it can be fixed by using v-sync or a framelimiter.
What would the optimal frame rate be for I-war 1?
I've set the graphics card to 60hz with vsynch enabled.

The bugs are getting more than a little annoying. I'm having real trouble getting past the morgan mission, in the last game the enemy ships just went to LDS in random directions. I might try to re-install or something, that might fix it.

Not sure but 60 or lower should be okay.
One last thing.

I don't remember, isn't it mentioned on the reference card?

The manual is part of the download. Unfortunately, the handy keyboard reference that comes with the game I don't think is included. I found my CD of this (yeah, I still have it) and I'll look to see if I can get a scan of the keyboard ref.

Anyway, page 57 of the manual: the DEL key fires the flares/decoys.

It might be worth mentioning that here in the forum in one of the threads you'll find a copy of the high-quality reference card. Although IIRC it is for te German keyboard layout, it sould still be useful to you.

Also, WRT saving mid-mission, this is enabled only for the add-on Defiance. According to former I-War dev Ravenger, Particle Systems didn't have the funds to implement mid-mission saving and test it thoroughly.

To be fair, once you are past the Morgan mission, things should get better. I remember that this is one of the most buggy missions I encountered in I-War.

BTW, setting a frametime limiter to 30 fps should work perfectly, as the systems back then rarely offered more fps.
Thanks for the help guys, I appreciate it.

I think I'll start playing Defiance then, seeing as saving is possible and the sheer trouble I'm having with I-war.

I found the Keyboard chart on the forum, very useful!

That Morgan mission is absolutely broken, I'm certain of it. I haven't even been able to clear it once.

Thanks again for the help!
Just remember if you're having major issues with a mission it's not a crime to cheat!

Using the cheats (you can google for them if you want to find out how to activate them) you can make yourself invincible, skip past mission sections or destroy enemy ships instantly.

The optimum frame-rate for I-War is anything below 100fps. The game is based on a centi-second timer and frame-rates above 100 can cause bugs.
