I went through flux.ini and then thru flux.log. I came back to the first post of AndrejaKo with missing idockport (whatever that is) in the linking process at startup.

The only other mention of this is in

www.i-war2.com/forum/pop_printer_friendly.asp?TOPIC_ID=1826
www.i-war2.com/forum/pop_printer_friendly.asp?TOPIC_ID=1728

but its basically a coding issue.
BINGO.

I repeated the fresh install and guess what, there is a file idockport.dll in bin/release folder. And after restart, i think it still exists right up until the next start of game. Then the antivirus (in this case Avast) flagged idockport.dll and quarantined it. It all happens in the background while the game is starting, so I missed the pop-up each time.

It is flagged as infected with Win32: Evo-gen virus. The whole thing happens the first time after EACH restart of Windows. After copying the file back the Avast doesnt react. And manually scanning the file says the file is clean and uninfected. Go figure.

Im glad I nailed it, but I dont understand it.

Great, but now i can´t lounch the ship...

Ok, happens the same with the file "ibody.dll". Fucking Avast.

Thanks you so much!

Thanks for sorting that out. I never guessed it'd be antivirus. I should have known better, given that disabling antivirus is one of the first things tech support people generally ask users to do :)
Thanks, keramikus.

I was having a similar issue and thought it was related to Windows 7 64bit updating after reboot, it was really an Avast! issue. Problem Solved!

Thanks for posting the solution!

Somehow I forgot about this thread completely and I recently found the dynamic link libraries in Avast's quarantine. Then I remembered this thread and came here only to find out that the solution has been posted months ago.

I still can't believe that I actually asked a question and then forgot about it! Looks like there's a first time for everything.
