i'VE HAD 20 TRIES ALREADY.

Tried changing my movement,speed but he same thing happens like clockwork.

BANG hull around 50 percent,bang hull around 15 or 30.
Then you die.

Sick of reloading and having to travel to Touchdown and wait for the mission scripts to kick in.

This game had the promise of being the best space game of all but the difficulty level is insane.

ANYONE with the brains of Einstein or Frank Zappa know how to beat the first mission?

P.S. Reinstalling.

There must have been a mod or something I installed a few years ago to wreck the game because it is like a script the way I'm getting blown up all the time.

Just had two more tries and got blown up in 10 seconds AGAIN.

Just thinking it could be Windows 7 64 bit.
I did buy this game when it was released and my OS was probably either win 98 or XP.

I remember getting through the first mission at the time.

I will NEVER get through it now so I'm thinking it could be a glitch with this game running on 64 bit systems.

When those spacethugs show up make sure you aren't stationary (sitting duck) but be at a reasonable speed.
Then when the attack starts make ample use of the thrust override keys and use a bit of sidestrafing and up and down strafing if you like.
If you leave the LDSI field just turn on the LDS drive and run away, they will likely follow you and perhaps use LDSI missiles to prevent you from escaping but thats only temporary.

In the mean time take some potshot against the enemies when you don't have to dodge missles, don't worry about overshooting your target, slowing down takes too much time and will make you an easy target, hit & run is the best tactic in the game.
Use missiles against them and if you shoot the Quad PBC make sure you are very close to the target when opening fire, it has short range and runs out of energy quickly but delivers massive damage.
You can actually use the Quad PBC to shoot enemy missiles but that is quite hard as missiles are hard to spot.
