I don't even have enough time to cheat kill enemies before loader.exe crashes in Dagda. I've tried all compatibilty modes but no luck. Been stuck on this for two weeks now, any ideas?

Win7, 2500k, p8p67, 6950, 8GB

Edit: After 100 futile attempts I accidentally jumped into that other l-point in Dagda and Clay gave his speech about minefield there. After that I jumped to right l-point and made it through without lockup.

Hey guys. It's NOT solved. I've tried all the tips given here, and nothing has worked. Zip, zilch, nada. The screen just freezes shortly after I've destroyed all the mines.

Is there any way to SKIP this son of a dog?

Update: I found this in another part of the forum, dealing with the Wolf's Lair mission.

Armed with those instructions by an angel whose name I have failed to write down, here's how I beat that sucker:

launch with 2 T-fighters. Enter Dagda. Undock the T-fighters. I immediately jumped out of the system.

Now, I DID fail the "clear the mines" mission part, but ALL the transports made it through in one piece, and I got a "large shipment of goods".

The rest was simply waiting (chewing my nails off) while the game skipped and stuttered back to base, where I landed. :)

So, T-fighters are good for something -- they actually provide you with an exploit that lets you finish an otherwise impossible mission (due to the f-ing crashes).

Note: I did NOT come up with this. Kudos and many, many thanks to the unknown guy who posted this in a Wolf's Lair thread!!

I agree. The "solved" tag does need to be removed from this thread. Ravenger's solution just doesn't work. You're more likely to get through the Dagda crash by chance from wasting time re-doing it in different ways.

The only solution that would be acceptable is an updated patch.

That worked for me.. Thanks!

Sorry to bump up an old thread - but I too am having this problem.

The game just totally goes apeshit whenever entering the Dadga system. It is NOT just when playing the mission where you have to de-mine the "backdoor L-Point" neither, it is so much as sniffing the Dagda systems backside, every single time, and the game is kaput!

None of the advice in this thread, such as deleting the resources/images/planets folder, has helped either.
Also the suggestion the bug only kicks in once an object is destroyed whilst in the Dadga system is false..... you can just sit and do nothing and the bug will strike after 2 or 3 minutes.

I have also seen somewhere on the web a claim that is this this latest v14.6 patch that is to blame!
Allegedly this v14.6 patch is an unofficial and BUGGED patch!
GOG's version is automatically applies this patch and THERE IS NO option to get any earlier versions. I can find NO other sources of any earlier versions anywhere else.
If this is actually true, GOG should immediately withdraw this game from sale! The game in this current sold version IS A FAULTY PRODUCT!!!!!

I've managed to get hold of I-War2 version F10.0..... and the Dagda crash STILL CONTINUES!!!!!

So it is not actually a problem specifically linked to v F14.6 then!

Though this is another small clue to the problem, it does not fix it.

THIS THREAD MUST HAVE IT'S "SOLVED" STATUS REMOVED. COME ON GOG. REMOVE! REMOVE! REMOVE! REMOVE! IT IS NOT SOLVED!!!!!

Sorry to shout but sometimes it seems the only way to make people take notice!

Agreed. This issue is far from solved. The best you can do is using a horrible workaround which can hardly be called a fix - not even close.

Just wondering, what workaround is that exactly?

So I completely agree that this problem is completely unsolved however I have found an easier work around than dumping one's turret fighters into the system.....

First I jump into the Dagda alpha point, Clay will rattle off the dialogue for entering the backdoor L-point starting the mission. After that jump out system but not to the the back door L-point. I went to the Mwari L-point that leads to the back door L-point. I just hung out there pirating ships until the Jarvis freighter declared they needed protection.

From there the dialogue cycled through very quickly and then the mission was recorded as completed (although the clear mine objective was failed) even though I never entered the Dagda back door L-point. This is the important part... fly back to base without using the auto dock shortcut until you are sitting right outside the base. Dock, save and move on with the game. So far so good.

If I hit any issues I will update but so far I have not reentered the Dagda system through the backdoor L-point, only the alpha L-point to progress through the game.

Good luck to my fellow pirates/freedom fighters and I hope this helps.

Sir, Michael O.Aq.

This seem to be a memory leakage issue, I've even managed to raise the limit to 4gb (as good as it can get for a 32bit program), but still it fills up before I finish the mission and freeze. Task manager is showing abnormally high memory usage once you enter the Dagda system.
I was able to get around this on Windows 10 by following these steps:

1. Set IW2EoCGS.exe and bin/release/loader.exe to Windows 98 / Me compatibility. (I believe this limits the memory that the program can allocate maybe?)
2. Run the game, go through the L-Point like normal. Immediately set it back to the Mwari point in your map.
3. Jump back through. After this point it will get laggy off and on.
4. Wait for dialogue from the guys you're helping.
5. Manually return to base.

I also have a save file right after completing this mission for those who can't be bothered: drive.google.com/file/d/1jT0NrvjU7fAKANVu_F-7N6G4IqA3KqtM/view?usp=sharing

I confirm this works. I must stress the compatibility setting to Win98 / ME; without this, the game will freeze upon your jump back to Mwari.
There is now an actual (fan) patch which should fix the problem. GOG should integrate that into the game by default (or at least ship it right with the game).
