My first review, ever.
But I can't let this pass without saying a word or two about this fantastic, largely unknown and underrated masterpiece.
Yes, yes, you can compare IWar to newer, shiny graphics, open-ended, sandboxed, multi-playable shipped and wathevered games and find this one a bit limited with its only playable ship, old (but still enjoyable) grahpics and mission-based gamesystem (even if you actually HAVE more endings, dependingon your in-mission chioces!!!).
But don't let those elements turn you down. This is a masterpiece, bar none. If you liked space sims the like of freespace, playing a little figher or bomber in a war that is too big for you (wonderful game again!!), here you really have the feeling of the power coming from a larger ship. Without a large choice of weapons, your fligh style and ability really matters in winning a fight. Withouth the maneuvrability of a fighter, your tactical skills and sense of anticipation can really save your day.
And with the well implemented four-stations control system, you really have the control of it all.
With wonderful missions, interesting backstory, no-return ethical choices and a climax ending, the main campaign is really a gem. I never played through the entire "Defiance" add-on (I had a bug in a mession...) but it is a worthy addition and I'll for sure give it a new try.
Oh, and yes... the opening cinematic is wonderful.
