Hi all!

As some of you may know, I started a thread around here to collect the names of ships from I-War for a project of mine. While I was not, due to technical limitations, able to make that materialize, I have moved onto another I-War project, and have made great progress. I'm nearing completion, and just wanted to get word out before releasing it sometime in the coming weeks.

So what is it? I've started what is, to my knowledge, the first mod of Star Wars: Rebellion that brings it into another universe - that of Independence War. For those of you who don't know, Rebellion is a rich RTS that allows the Empire and Rebel Alliance to build fleets of ships, and battle for control of space. There will be a few differences to the gameplay besides aesthetics; here's a list of a few of them.

- There are no longer planetary shields or orbital bombardments. Planets must be taken the hard way - using troops.

- Fighters are no longer going to be built en mass. Instead, they are expensive assets that will be very powerful if deployed well.

- There are no Jedi/Sith, or any kind of "equivalent".

- The game will be a bit more "balanced" than vanilla. Both teams will be building the same ships from the beginning, with a few exceptions, per the I-War game.

- Ships are much faster than vanilla. Travel time across the galaxy takes a single day, not weeks or months.

- Combat occurs much more often than before, since several starting ships now have "LDSi Missiles", which function as the gravity wells do in vanilla.

- The Star Wars galaxy has been replaced with the stars and planets from I-War. Coruscant, for example, is now Earth.

I have all the ships done (unless I decide to add/remove), several characters done, and some of the UI artwork replaced.

This mod takes place starting around the time of the intro cutscene to I-War, and includes famous characters such as President King, Jefferson Clay, Morgan Blackheart, Collin MacDuff, and many others.

The ship list is subject to change, but as of now, includes the following:

Commonwealth Navy

NSO-590 Puffin Tug
NSO-989 Tariq PatCom
NSO-989s "Scout" PatCom
NSO-929 Dreadnaught Corvette
NSO-929 Double PBC Dreadnaught Corvette
NSO-F650 Jeep Troopship
Alabama Class Carrer
NSO-1102b Bastille Destroyer
NSO-1102i Interdictor Destroyer
NSO-1210a Danube Cruiser
NSO-1210b Heavy Cruiser
VS-PT540 Yacht
C-Drone
Hunter-Seeker Mines
Blitz Class C-Fighter
GST-10 Gunstar

Independent Navy

NSO-590 Puffin Tug
NSO-590c "Combat" Tug
NSO-989 Tariq PatCom
NSO-989s "Scout" PatCom
NSO-929 Dreadnaught Corvette
NSO-F650 Jeep Troopship
Converted Freighter (Fighter Carrier)
NSO-1102b Bastille Destroyer
NSO-1210a Danube Cruiser
Indie Yacht
S-Drone
Hunter-Seeker Mines
S-Fighter
Spider Gun

I'm a strong believer in "pics or it didn't happen", and so have attached several shots from RebEd showing a few ships and characters. I'll include some proper in-game screenshots once I get some more UI art done, since I don't really want to show it off with Star Destroyers in the background.

Thanks for any feedback!

That looks really good. I will keep following this! Although I never played the Star Wars game, everything I-War is always welcome to me :)

Thanks! It's coming along nicely, and I'm just working on polishing the UI and getting the last few characters done.
Time for an update!

The I-War mod is nearing completion, and I'm now looking for anyone willing to help with testing before I release this to the public.

If you are interested, please shoot me a PM.

Thanks!
Here's another update. For those who looked at the list of ships in the mod, you may have noticed a few not from I-War. There are also, of course, Rebellion players who know nothing of the I-War universe. I am going to quickly explain what each ship is, and what it does.

Also, a few terms you may or may not know are PBC, missile, LDSi missile, and LDA. The PBC, or particle beam cannon, is the standard pew-pew of the I-War universe, and is similar in use to the turbolasers of Star Wars. Missiles allow ships to kill each other from longer range, but are more limited. LDSi missiles stop craft from escaping. An LDA is essentially a shield.

Ships listed on both sides have the same stats, except for price (Indie ships cost slightly more).

Tug - a small, robust utility ship, it will probably be used much more by Indie players than Commonwealth players (due to the low build cost and maintenance). It can ferry a single fighter (or a squadron of drones or mines), and has a standard PBC that has only a forward arc. It has half the LDA strength of a corvette, and is considerably slower.

PatCom - the Tariq class is a standard combat vessel, and will probably be among the most common ships built by a Commonwealth or Indie player. It has a forward-facing PBC, missiles, and LDSi missiles. The single LDA is slightly stronger than one from a corvette. It is also slightly faster and more maneuverable. Can move two fighters.

Scout PatCom - a faster version of the PatCom, the scout version has far more advanced sensors, and should be used as a sentry ship for fleets (it is good for detecting enemy missions). The hull is weaker, and it loses the missiles and LDSi missiles.

Corvette - corvettes form the backbone of the fleet, and are very rugged craft. While not quite as fast as the PatCom, a corvette has two LDAs instead of one, a backwards-facing PBC and missile launcher, and a stronger hull. It can also carry two squads of troops. Can move two fighters.

Double PBC Corvette - same as the normal corvette, but with double firepower fore and aft.

Troopship - the Jeep class can move 15 squads of troops, but has no weapons.

Carrier - Alabama class carriers can hold up to 40 fighters, and are reasonably well protected. Nonetheless, they should be protected by other ships to ensure their safety.

Destroyer - smallest of the "capital ships", the Bastille is far, far superior to a corvette. It has three Gatling PBC guns (which shoot seven times faster than a normal PBC), three LDAs, and a very strong hull. The destroyer is capable of moving two troop squads and two fighters.

Interdiction Destroyer - a variant of the normal destroyer which incorporates LDSi missiles.

Cruiser - a mostly defensive ship, the cruiser is quite slow and sluggish. It does, however, have an extremely durable hull and four LDAs, along with eight PBCs. Can move four troop squads and two fighters.

Heavy Cruiser - far superior variant of the cruiser which replaces the PBCs with Gatling PBCs and adds a hangar. It also incorporates LDSi flak (which functions the same as LDSi missiles). Can now move 12 fighters.

Yacht - for moving characters around quickly. No weapons, and cannot carry troops or fighters. Very cheap.

C-Drone - a combat drone that can provide only light support to ships.

Mines - these essentially attempt to kill larger vessels by ramming into them and detonating a warhead.

C-Fighter - the Commonwealth's fighter. It is extremely fast and maneuverable, and has a strong gun. Also carries 16 missiles. Does not have shields or a capsule drive.

Gunstar - a mostly static defense platform for attacking incoming vessels. Enormous firepower, but almost no ability to maneuver. Deploys to other systems much, much slower than standard vessels.

Indie Combat Tug - this is a beefed up version of the standard tug, with missiles, more armor, and a slightly stronger LDA. Result of desperation.

Indie Carrier - by converting freighters into carriers, the Indies can effectively move fighters around. Carries 24 fighters.

S-Drone - same as C-Drone.

S-Fighter - the fighter used by the Indies is far inferior to that of the Navy. While they mount the same gun, the S-Fighter is about 1/3 as fast and maneuverable, and carries no missiles.

Spider Gun - Indie version of the Gunstar.
