Having played it for a while I can confirm that GOG have done an excellent job getting the game running on modern machines.
There are a few niggles here and there, but they are very minor compared to the extreme difficulty of getting the game working at all previously.
It's almost a miracle what GOG have done in my opinion, especially as I don't believe they had access to the source code.
Well done GOG!

Thank you for posting this. I was waiting for input like this before deciding to purchase.
I've been wondering how much GOG really does to get these games ready. Not that I doubt their abilities but I wonder how much they are allowed to do to someone else's game.

Stormwatcher: because I lost all the will to help after your smart-arse reply.

einexile: Are you referring to my original post where I discussed both executables in question, or the one where you acted like I had only mentioned one of them?
Does your Intro.exe launch the game executable?
Perhaps it was somewhere in the post where you imagined me asking for help.

Thanks for proving that you're a gigantic jerk. Not that I had any doubts.
Let me get this straight before I purchase. IW2 download comes with glide wrapper and is pre-configured or is that something I have to download and configure myself?
That's I-War 1 that uses a glide wrapper. I-war 2 supports d3d.

Hey, he's one of the guys that made the I-War series at Particle Systems, he knows his stuff :p
Does the I-War source code still exist? I've read recently that the source files for the Wing Commander games are lost.
I believe the source code does exist for I-War, and I know for certain the source for I-War 2 exists.
