Ultima 7 wandering around with no idea now this.

Gee these old games really are predujice against us dumb people.

Wing Commander 3 and Fallout are great though.
Not into melting my brain when I struggle bad enough in real life.
Maybe in my next life (lol that aint gonna happen) I get the brain you guys got given and then see the light?

Sucks to be born dumb.
What mission are you stuck on?
Everything.The controls.
Can't find what does which.

I'm hopeless.

Did you download the manual and read it? You'll need a pdf reader like Adobe or Foxit to open the file.
The basic flight controls aren't any different than just about any other flight sim out there - thrust and steer, and shoot at things. However, there may be some details that are confusing at first.

So, which controls are giving you problems? And, do you have the keyboard reference card? Even as an I-War2 veteran, I still refer to the key-ref card.
Gave up.Can only use Keyboard and that is pretty bad.

Hda a hard time using the dock autopilot and game was giving me anxiety so I stopped.
You get anxiety attacks playing games? Perhaps it's time to step away from the keyboard and consult a doctor.
Hmm, that's odd. Docking autopilot is one keypress and fully automatic, at least for I-War2. If you can't dock at that target, it gives you a little buzz and an error message on your HUD. For instance, if you try to dock at a base and all the ports at the base are in use, or if you are toting a piece of cargo (thus your own docking fixture is already in use by the cargo). If the mission has you hauling a piece of cargo, try using the undock command before you attempt docking to something else.
Ive stepped away from the "hardcore" games because they are too tedious and require more brain headroom than what I was given at birth.

Yes, sounds like you would be better off sticking with console games.

Pretty much impossible to play with just the keyboard. Either get a joystick, a game controller, or you won't have any fun playing.
I learnt to play with only mouse and keyboard, so it is possible, just very hard.

If a game seems like fun to you but you find it hard to learn, take breaks and return after a day or a week. Learning (for you) new concepts is demanding on the brains but can be done even if not the brightest around; it just takes longer.
I just ordered a joystick just to play these two games: the Thrustmaster T.16000M. It was only $31 - hopefully it will arrive this week. I would use my Quickshot Skymaster but my computer does not have a sound card so there is nowhere to plug the joystick in.

I guess it will be good time to reinstall TIE fighter and X-Wing as well. Hopefully, GOG gets the Mechwarrior games soon, but in the meantime I will purchase the Freespace games (eventually). Descent: Freespace was one of the favourites back in the day. Good times.

Get a joystick - it is worth it!

I just bought this.Great stick
IW2 still is Hard.

If only Einstein and Frank Zappa were alive to play it.

The first mission in IW 2 has me in a shaking pool of jelly and my heart is beating fast.

I'm a fit person also but these games that start really hard give me anxiety and then depression.

Then I get really bloody angry and want to get help by posting a million posts out of despair.

Feel awful.

if anyone knows how this shit game especially the first mission where you get shot down in 10 seconds, tell me the secret.

I'm struggling and need to step away from the computer before I need to smash the thing or get drunk or whatever?
Smasha, calm down. Can you please record and post a YouTube video of you failing? Maybe it's atiming error or something that occurs very rarely. A video might help us to find out the likely cause.
