Is there a way to touch up the graphics settings some more, I seem to remember the first incoming looking a lot cleaner back in the day. I'm running the game at the highest resolution it allows (1024X768), but for some reason many fine details are missing such as the lightning weapon and the helicopter cranes.

Specs:
-Windows 7 32 bit,
-Nvidia 260 GTX,
-AMD Phenom II X4 3.2GHZ,

This was the very first computer game I ever played, so I had the same feeling.
From what I can tell/rationalize:

- monitors back then were smaller and generally made for today's "low" resolutions.

- You probably don't have a CRT (big bulky old-school-TV style) monitor, but a digital one, which displays pixels digitally. Same reason Mario looked so much better as a kid.

- Nostalgia factor: we played it years ago, probably when we were young. As we'd never seen anything better, our imaginations fill in the gap
Warshado makes a good point.

The game is missing items on the screen, present in the original. The platform in the first level for example, doesn't even show up in the GOG version.

I have some screenshots:

This game is gorgeous on a retro PC, but the GOG version looks bad compared with that.
