I am considering purchasing Incoming and Incoming Forces as Incoming was one of my favorite childhood games. I want to make sure it runs fine on Windows 7 x64 though, so can anyone confirm that Incoming works fine on Win7 64-bit?
I have the original Incoming CD and the game works on Win7 but runs very fast making it virtually unplayable. Is the copy being sold here free of this problem?
My system specs:
AMD Phenom X4 9950
ATI HD4870
Windows 7 Professional x64
Give me 2 or so hours from this post to reply, I'll install it on my Win7 64-bit pc now I'm awake and have a day off.
Ok, works flawlessly on my rig with Win7 Pro 64-bit. The original Incoming has the same issue as another post with XP does, shoddy mouse support at best. I think the original Incoming just can't handle a mouse and is a joystick/gamepad type of game. Forces is working very well and supports widescreen on my PC too, so I think you will be in good shape.

Yes, the one I played from GOG does not have the speed problem, just control issues. Incoming Forces is still fine though.
Thank you very much for confirming this.
One other question, does the game allow you to go above 1024x768x16 screen resolution? On my current copy of Incoming, I can only play the game with 16-bit at 1024x768 as the maximum resolution.
My native monitor resolution is 1280x1024. At the least, I would like to be able to play it in 1024x768 at 32-bit color. Is this possible?
Isn't there a setup program to do this? I was able to hit my native res of 1440x900 with the extra program that makes a beige window with the game name and pic on it, and old-styled external options sort of program. I remember Mechwarrior did that too.
EDITL Bio2hazard took the words I was looking for out of my mouth, there's a setup screen on Incoming Forces. The original I'd avoid, even though I like it's setting better it just refuses let you aim with a mouse for odd reasons.

Incoming Forces has a Setup screen which allows all common resolutions, including widescreen. I am playing it at 1920 x 1080 just fine.
Original Incoming does not seem to have the ability to set resolutions.

Incoming:
Right click on the Incoming icon on the desktop and select Properties, then select Shortcut, under the target field where it says "C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Incoming and Incoming Forces\Incoming\incoming.exe", at the end type -screenmode
So it should look like this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Incoming and Incoming Forces\Incoming\incoming.exe" -screenmode
NOTE: If you dont own a 64-Bit version of Windows then delete the part that says (x86).
Apply and click OK, then when you run the game it will bring a window up where you can choose your resolution, including 1024x768x16.
Hope that helps.
Oh by the way, that resolution window will appear everytime you run Incoming. I haven't found a way to save it once you've selected a resolution yet.

Hey there,

I just found my old Incoming CD and tryed to install it but it tells me the setup is not compatible with the 64 bit version of windows and it won't start. Anyone knows what to do? Looks like some of you already played it on windows 7 64bit.

Yup - the GOG version will have been reconfigured by the GOG magic pixies so the install works on x64 bit . If you are using the original cd's , you are out of luck I would think. Invest a few dollars and buy the GOG version..;o)
I can confirm that the GOG version does run on Windows 7 x64 (despite the fact that it's not listed in the catalogue). I have a GeForce 9800M and here it works like a charm.
