Hello,

I have the cdrom version of this game and it has a beautiful soundtrack.
But sadly the music has a lot of unwanted background noise, maybe due to low bitrate or bad compression.
My question is wether the remaster has a cleaned up version of the soundtrack or is it still as bad?

The music in the GOG version is more heavily compressed (taking up 47.6MB compared to 64.2MB for the CD version) with the files having an .ogg extension (but not being recognised as Ogg Vorbis by either VLC Player or Foobar2000). I can't hear any difference myself (though the GOG version does benefit from better graphics).

In terms of background noise, the game does play various sound effects (birds, wind, etc) along with the music on colony screens - these are separate tracks (uncompressed .wav files on the CD version, compressed with the GOG release) so shouldn't affect music quality.
