Hi guys,

Me and my friend seem to be unable to play Imperialism 2 in multiplayer. We tried several methods of solving this issue.

Method no. 1: we tried playing normally (no Hamachi), just via our normal IP address. It didn't work.
Method no. 2: we deactivated our firewalls, we activated Hamachi and we used our Hamachi IP addresses. It didn't work either.
Method no. 3: we tried using Evolve. It didn't work either.
Method no. 4: we kept Hamachi running, but used our normal IP addresses (not the Hamachi ones). That didn't work either (which wasn't really a surprise...)

I should probably mention that we obtain our IP addresses automatically.

Does anyone have a solution to this please? Pretty please?

Never mind, I found a solution eventually. Here it is in case others will need it as well:

Step no. 1: I downloaded an older version of Hamachi, namely Hamachi 2.0.385. After it was installed the application wanted to update itself, which was ok because it didn't interfere with anything. I should mention that the newer Hamachi version did not work;

Step no. 2: Once Hamachi was installed I deactivated my anti-virus (I'm using AVG). Some people might have to deactivate their Windows firewall as well;

Step no. 3: My friend deactivated both his anti-virus, as well as his Windows firewall;

Step no. 4: We pinged eachother on Hamachi and we both got replies. I should note that I didn't get a reply from him if he didn't deactivate his anti-virus and his firewall. Strangely enough, he got a reply from me if I deactivated my anti-virus, but not my firewall as well. I don't understand why that happened, but anyhow...

Step no. 5: I made a game, he joined and that was it.

If you'll do things this way, make sure both you and your friend experiment with your firewalls and your anti-viruses a bit. Find a configuration that allows both of you to get replies when you ping each other on Hamachi. If you won't get replies, the game will most definitely not work.

Oh and yes, we're both using Windows 7 X64, so I cannot guarantee this works on other OS's.

I hope you see this! I am in the same problem but I can't follow your directions.

How do I find Hamachi 2.0.385? I don't see that version available anywhere. Everything seems to be 2.2 and later.
Hi All. We just got a game up. You need to:

Disable firewalls (Windows Defender Firewall)

and

Run program as Administrator.

The use your local IP address (not the one shown in game)
