Like many folks here, I've encountered multiple crash to desktop issues when playing Imperialism. I found the fix in other threads on here where you rename winmm.dll to _winmm.dll in the game files, which seems to stop the crashes. However, when I do this the music stops playing entirely in the game. Does anyone know what could be causing this issue and how I can get the music back? Playing on Windows 10 for reference.

I have the same problem. Constant crashes without that fix, no music with it.

If anyone has an idea on how to deal with this, that would be helpful.
I have nearly the same issue,
Please refer to my post from other topis on the music issue:

Hello !! I have nearly the same issue: game starts with music. But after one round of gameplay, there is suddenly no music anymore. Only the unit and industry sounds (ambient sounds) are still playing. Any new ideas how this can be fixed ?? The hint with renaming the winmm.dll-file (from other forum posts) does not solve the issue. There are already several topics in the forum, with the music issue. Help by the GOG team would be appreciated, as this seems a common issue for Imperalism 1. Cheers !!

Maybe the several topics for the music issue should be merged in one single topic... ;-)
