Hi everyone, I've been trying to fix this for a while but Imperialism keeps crashing at somewhat random intervals, though usually within minutes of starting it.
I am running on a Windows 7 64 bit system and have read through some threads here and tried their solutions.
(Running in 640x480 and making a DEP exception, reinstalling, reinstalling at a different location etc.)
Nothing helped and I am at a loss of what to do now.

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated, also I am not sure what other information would be helpful but I'd be happy to provide it.

Thank you

Update:
The sItuation has become far worse. While when I wrote my original post I could be fairly certain to be able to play around 1-3 truns before the game crashed, now I cant even start a game. It now crashes everytime the screen changes from the screen where you generate a map, choose your empire etc to the screen where you are supposed to choose your capitals position.

At this point the game is utterly unplayable and this makes me very sad :(

You can try to find out what is different about your win 64 to all the other win 64s where the game works. Maybe some antivirus is interfering with the program, or the graphics driver settings are causing trouble.
Thank you!
I am using Avira as an Anti Virus software, should it be enough to turn it off or do I need to completely uninstall it, to check if thats the reason for the crashes?
I don't know, I suspect turning off should be enough for a test to see if that program is even the problem.
Thank you for trying to help me,

turning off the Anti Virus did sadly do nothing. Would showing the crash log help?
Try to run the game under adimin.
