Imp1 had a notorious multiplayer bug where the game would crash at a random game date, and no matter how far back the game was reloaded it would continue to crash at that same date. I've owned the game since the 90's, beaten it dozens of times, and attempted several dozen multiplayer games - all of them have crashed. The Imp community has been looking at this problem for over a decade, but has been determined that the chaotic and disorganized nature of the game code has made fixing it impossible.

So did GOG fix it? Has anyone played a multiplayer game through yet without crashes(I know it's early, but hey marathons happen)?

So, any news on this topic?

Is this version of Imperialism LAN-playable? Or does it crash as the non-GOG Imperialism do crash?
Did anyone play LAN successfully?
Thank you for your response.
Are you an active multi player person. I am keen to game, but don't that make the game more fun
I haven't tried the GoG versions yet, though i did buy them a bit earlier.

But i have never had that bug with the Imperialism i use(d) to play with a friend occasionally.
We have completed at least 15 games over the years, though we did have occasional bug with me (the client) getting a turn or two behind, therefor getting techs a few turns later than the host and the AI nations. But it never reseulted in a crash.

The only crashes we have had has been because of some not-so-figured-out-yet reason caused by Sappers or Demolitionist in auto-combat, not guaranteed to happen tho.
