Hi,

I'm thinking about getting a Logitech Wingman Force. I'm running 32 bit Windows 7. And I'm reading that there are problems getting the Joystick to work on newer, 64bit systems. Can anyone tell me if it'll work on my 32bit Win? Shouldn't the 32bit vista-driver and software work fine? Everything I find is related to 64bit.

I found it used, at a great price, but i can't afford to buy it just to find out it's not working in Win 7.

So I have a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick which works on my Win 7-32bit partition. The standard Windows driver is capable of using it and the Logitech driver works too. While mine is not a force-feedback joystick, the Wingman Force joystick should work too.

By the way, if price is an issue, then the Logitech Extreme 3D pro joystick is generally cheaper (unless you're getting Wingman Force on sale? - EDIT: Ah, I see you're getting it used).

I have a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, and it works great for me on My Win98SE machine, my WinME machine, WinXP (32 bit) machine, worked well on my Vista 64 bit which I upgraded to Win7 64 bit. I know it is not the same model as you are looking at, but by the same manufacturer, so I would assume the one you are looking at should work.

Well, the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro is still being produced, and Wingman Force was disontinued quite some time ago, if I'm not mistaken.
I just got a respons from the guy selling it that it didn't work for him in Win7 32bit. I guess i should take his word for it, but i just don't see why it shouldn't work.

The problem with buying a cheap joystick is that joysticks will have to be ordered online here (in Norway), and if the joystick costs $40-60, the shipping would come to about $20-30. Suddenly It's way out of my price-range.

That's really unfortunate ... if the guy told you that then in all likelihood he is telling the truth (in fact a better than even chance that is why he is selling it). Damn you're right a quick search revealed that the sellers shipping to Norway for the joystick Waiwulf and I use was on the high end, though not unreasonable, for the base price but wanted an exorbitant amount for shipping.

I take it no local Norwegian electronic stores (or gaming stores?) sell joysticks? Maybe you should ask the guy where he got his joystick from? Unless he himself paid a small fortune for it, he might know a store where you can buy them from.

Best of luck.

Thanks for the Response, psycho_mike. ;)
I actually went ahead and bought it. :o
He said he had paid roughly $300 for it when it was new. He said he had only found a XP-driver, and couldn't get it to work. I DID find Vista32-drivers on Logitechs sites so i decided to gvie it a shot. If it doesn't work out I'll set up a dual-boot with XP and install my joystick-games on that partition instead.

But, i would think that it should work with vista-drivers..? Isn't it pretty much the same thing?
Well, I ended up paying $30 for the Joystick, a Sidewinder Freestyle Pro Gamepad and a Logitech QuickCam Pro 5000 webcam (:P) so, I'm not complaining. :D

PS: There are very few stores selling joysticks these days. I found the newer Logitech Force 3D pro selling over the counter, but at $100, it's way out of my price-range. It's crazy, Dave.. Crazy!

I'd say with the vista drivers you stand a decent chance of the joystick working - not a bad price for all of that regardless!

I have to admit, even in the States it's getting harder to find joysticks, especially in brick and mortar stores. Even here the Force 3d Pro is $60 and I only saw it online. In fact the one I have, the Logitech Extreme 3D pro ($30-40), is the only joystick I ever saw from any manufacturer in a physical store and that store has since gone under. If I wanted a new a joystick (thankfully not an issue, this one seems to be holding up really well), I suspect I could only order it online these days.

Ah well, can't complain too much at least we still have some relatively inexpensive options (and from Amazon.com you generally don't pay shipping in the US if the purchase is over a certain amount).

Vista-drivers didn't work, but the XP-drivers worked fine.
I have to say though, this being my first go with a Force Feedback joystick (last joystick i owned was the Competition Pro) I'm a bit surprised. This isn't the smooth responsive ride i was expecting. It's kind of jumpy (and I'm not reffering to the actual feedback). And it requires quite a bit of strength. And sometimes it makes a HELLISH racket without there being anything really going on. Is all this normal. Is it just turbulance? Is it supposed to move jaggidly at times?

Well, I'm very happy with my purchase anyhow. :D

Glad you have it working. I had a Saitek force feedback JS that I had used with RB3D. Except for the vibration as I was coming to a stall, I hated the force feedback function. But loved the stiffness, kept me from yanking and banking the JS too much.

Congrats! ... 'fraid I don't know much about force-feedback joysticks (never owned one).

Good hunting.
If anyone needs to get this stick or similar devices working in Win 7 I think I've figured out how:

You need to manually install the drivers from "Logitech Gaming Software 4.40" BEFORE installing the software from "Logitech Gaming Software 4.60". The files were a little hard to find, but I've got them backed up if anyone needs them..
I have an older WINGMAN FORCE...

I run WIN 7 - 64 bit.... Anyone know how to get this joystick to work there?

THANK YOU!

Thom
I use the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro with my Win 7 64 bit. No problemo...i use it with IL-2, CFS3, and my RB3D.
Just plug n play.
I have a Logitech Force 3D Pro, which is the same joystick as an Extreme 3D Pro except that it has forcefeedback.
Only thing is in IL-2 I always turn the ffb off, in my oppinion this is a game you really need precision and want your aim being put off by fancy ffb inputs.

I have tried force feed back JS and the only thing I ever liked about them is I could tell when my aircraft was about to stall. Otherwise I found all the vibrations more of a distraction.
