I would install the Dark blue world mod, with the "one-step superpack", which install UP3C4 and some others in the same time, on any versions of IL-2, from the 4.07m to 4.10.1m

But i can't begin the installation. (can't run the exe file)

My version of Il-2 was 4.11.1m, then i apply the downgrade to version 4.10m. The game works with this version.

I know that some people here have the DBW... What other steps have you done ?

I see here too that the GOG versions need a mod to be moddable... But i'm not sure if i must install it. Should i apply it ?

I'm running the game on mac, with Wineskin and a wrapper from paulthetall, but it should work like on a PC :)

I also run it in a wineskin though of a wrapper of my own creation - I can confirm the base game works as in Windows. BTW did PaultheTall update his original wrapper (he almost certainly did, but I want to confirm) - his original used a Wine Engine that didn't allow joystick control in the Mac that has since been fixed (for DirectX games at least).

I can't comment with authority on mod use since I play vanilla, but I believe you need to downgrade the version you play on for many mods to work - Dark Blue World maybe exception though as I said, I cannot comment with authority on mods.

I don't know about the Mac stuff but HSFX mod uses 4.11.1m. Most other large mods will utilize the lower versions with the DBW best with 4.07, but will go to 4.10.1.
I have the HSFX mod on 4.11.1, and a vanilla for patching.
If I had a lower version I'd do the DBW mod for sure, but the only drawback if you can call it one is it's for offline only.

Yeah, I'm working on getting HSFX working through wine on my mac, I was advised on the M4T forum to patch up v. 4.12.1, Then to 4.12.2 and then to HSFX v7.0, The guys on here have the patch for 4.12.2 and are working on getting it up for download through their in-house downloader now.

Tried with the UP3 DBW mod but never got it going. I know you have to downgrade to 4.10 but GOG have the patch for that here! If you have any luck with UP DBW though, I'd be very interested to know how you did it!

i got HSFX v. 7.0 working smoothly through wine on my mac after patching up to Il2 V.4.12.2.

So it IS possible, now to try and get UP3/DBW running... which, I fear, maybe a bigger ask...!
