Hi all,

I am setting up a new gaming PC just for older games, and have a few Qs:

- is IL2 a dosbox game? Just curious.
- I have a choice between 2 systems to setup for older games - which one would run games like IL2 better? A P4 3.4ghz with 4gb ram or a Core2Duo 2.2ghz - 8gb ram?
- can IL2 take advantage or more than one core or hyperthreading?

Well, it's certainly not DosBox, it's firmly into the WIndows timeframe. My 2 GHz 3 Gb RAM laptop just about runs it fully-featured, so a 2.2 GHz PC should do fine, but a 3.4 would certainly be able to run all the bells & whistles... I don't think the RAM is important, beyond 2-3 Gb.

I can't answer the question about Dual Core, I don't have one...

Non of the IL2 series erquire DOSBOX. I own all retail version and they all install fine even upto Win 7 64 bit. The better machine the better it will run at max settings.

Higher CPU is better. It is better to have an okay graphics card on a higher cpu then have a great graphics card with a slower cpu. So I would put it on the 3.4ghz
