Hey folks, I've found one topic on the issue that didn't seem to be addressed, but I figured I'd give it a go anyways lest my $10 go to waste. As mentioned in the title, the game crashes immediately when I open the executable file. The error message is a vague, "Icewind Dale II has stopped working"; no details beyond that. The "check online for a solution" button never seems to process anything.

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit on a modern Intel processor with a NVidia GTX 570 GPU (fully updated drivers and retro Direct X installed). I use CA security center for firewall, but nothing locally. UAC is off, I've installed the game (off of a clean uninstall) under admin mode, and I've tried various compatibility modes and config settings.

I purchased Baldur's Gate II and HOMM3 off of GOG and they work just fine. The only game I've ever had an issue with on this PC is The Witcher 2 (still unresolved, as well).

Most problems I've read here involve a crash when trying to create a game; to clarify, that isn't my issue (yet). I can't get that far; it's a crash that happens immediately when I run IWD2. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Only thing I can think of is to make sure you install the game outside the Programs or Prgrams(x86) folders. Install somewhere like C:\Games and see if it makes a difference. I have no issues running it on my Win7 x64 rig.
I boot Windows from a separate drive so that shouldn't matter, but I've tried it anyways; no luck.
