I must sound like a bafoon, but I just don't know when Rangers get their 2nd, 3rd, etc... spell levels. I read somewhere that they get 2nd level spells at level 8, but my ranger has not yet gained the ability to cast 2nd level spells. His wisdom is 13.

How often do Rangers get new spells?

There's a table of Ranger spell casting progression Here, but basically, they get level 2 spells at Ranger level 10, level 3 spells at Ranger level 12, level 4 spells at Ranger level 15, level 5 spells at Ranger level 21, and level 6 spells at Ranger level 29.
