Hello, I am running Icewind Dale on a Win 7 64 bit machine. I have the widescreen mod installed. In order to run the game, I have to run as admin.

The problem is, there are settings in the config that I would like to change, if I do this, it kicks the game back to the lowest res, and I must run the widescreen mod again, which in turn sets all the config settings back to default.

So I can either play with the widescreen mod installed, or with config set as I want it, but not both.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

What if one sets the config to read only?

just open the ini file (I think its called icewind.ini) with notepad and manually write the resolution back in (should be under a heading like graphics or video), as long as the mod is installed it'll just check that file on load and use whatever resolution you tell it to, no need to reinstall the mod at all (thankfully)

Ok, when I alter the line in the .ini file, and then try and save it, I get an access denied message. So I dunno. I'm gonna continue to tinker with it, but still not working yet. Any further advice is appreciated. Thanks again.

When modifying the .ini file, run Notepad as Admin. That should allow you to save it.
You have to check Read Only under Properties only after you've made the changes.
Thanks for all the help. Running notepad as Admin worked. Don't know why I didn't think of it, as I had to run the game, the config program and the widescreen mod as admin. Anyway, thanks everyone.
