Anyone know what to do here?

I'm in the Maluradek Interior in level 2. I killed the four beholders in the central room, got the two skulls that I need to open the door to get to level 3 but the door won't unlock.

I searched for a walkthough and it said if I waited long enough, the magic mouth would appear on the door and I could talk to it. I waited for several minutes before it appeared but when it did, I couldn't click on it to talk to it, there was no automatic dialogue. I tried pausing and using the "dialog" command when the face appeared but it would only target the door. Making an important NPC disappear for no reason when they need to be there for the player to continue is probably one of the stupidest design flaws I've ever seen in a game.

Anyone else have this problem figure out how to get past it? Is there a cheat where I can just bypass the area?

Sounds like your game is bugged. I just went through that area last night. I got both skulls before even getting to that door and as soon as I approached it, the magic mouth appeared and said 'You may pass'. So something's wrong in your game.

What you could do is try to teleport the party to the next area and see if you can continue from there. Save your game in a separate slot before trying this, just in case The next area is AR9718, so try the command:

GETYOURCHEATON:MoveToArea("AR9718")

This will move you to the next area, although I'm not sure if things will trigger properly. Worth a try though. If it does work, one thing you might want to keep in mind is the party is awarded 420,000 XP for passing the Magic Mouth, so you may want to award your characters the requisite amount of XP using the console if the teleport solution works for you.
Thanks for the help. The cheat to skip the area worked like a charm.

Finished the rest of the game with no problems :)
Sorry to bump this, but I had the same issue. Fortunately I had a save from right before entering the area, so I loaded that and the second time I entered it worked fine.Talked to the door without skulls, told me its riddle. Talked to it with skulls, door opened.

After I finish the game, if I have time I'll take a look at that area's scripts to see what could be causing it.
