I am having problems trying to create a new game, for both full game and expansion only. When selected the screen will gray out slightly and pause. Mouse still works and I can exit back out to normal menu at any time. In addition dead center of the screen is a hidden "done" button. Clicking it is the same as exiting back to main menu.

I have already tried all "run as adminstrator" tricks, both instaling, right clicking run adminstrator, compatability windows modes and the like. It is not installed in program folders just C\:Icewind. Could really use some help, I want to enjoy icewind dale again. :(

I'm assuming this is IWD1 since you mentioned the expansion.

First off, make sure to update your graphics drivers if you haven't already. This can solve a lot of issues, even for older games. Also, did you run the configuration utility before you started the game?

It would also help if you give a list of your operating system, graphics card, any installed mods, etc. so that people can have more information to go on.

K. Operating Vista x64, nvidia gefore gtx 295, config utility has been ran and I have tried nearly everything under it. No mods. Wanted to get it running pure before I started adding to it. It starts up just fine. But I can't create a new game. :(

Well just tried something that I was fearfull of. Went and installed iwd2 and it to can't start up a new game. It says something about can't connect to session. I think that might be problem with first one aswell even though I can't see the message only the "done" sign.

Also don't know if this is related but My av just axed the config.exe saying its a trojan. :( Such ill luck.

I have exactly the same problem here. Game installs, opening cinematics and menu, sounds all well. But when i click Create Game, an invisible box opens with only an invisible "Done" button. 64 bit vista again.

Try deleting file named ..unins000.exe
This is the saved game file..then creat your game

I'm having the same problem (with IWD2)....
The 'box' text reads, "Cannot connect to the game session", even though I just want to play a single-player game, not a multi-player...?

This is the same problem I have both with icewind dale 1 and 2 it just freezes when I press create game

I have tried every number of helpful suggestion hints and direct metodes I know not thing works it just freezes. and in Icewind dale 2 case "Can not connect to session" even though it is single player I have one...

my pc runs my disk versions I bought years ago without any trouble at all but not those I have from gog.
I ran my dxdiagexe to check whick one I ran is seems to be running dx11 although I do not know if this could be the problem.
