IWD1 - I click the appropriate button for casting spells, and sometimes, but only sometimes, it allows me to select a spell I wish to cast. Most of the time though? It does nothing. I can click the button all day long, but it does absolutely nothing. Doesn't matter if it's the cleric, wizard or the druid. It does nothing, and I can't cast anything. I'm suspecting a bug.

So, how do I fix this? Is there at least an alternate way of casting spells?

Have you memorized the spell?
Is your character wearing armour preventing spell casting?

@ kilmindaro - What mods, if any, have you installed? Mage spells are disabled if they wear any armor other than robes. Druids *might* not be able to cast if wearing metal armor (though I've not encountered that problem with multi-class druids with the expanded armor & weapons tweak from Dale Tweaks). And I have no idea why clerics are stopped... My opinion, you've a bugged install (happens sometimes).

The problem is that the button responsible for bringing up the spell menu is not responding to being clicked 99% of the time. Sometimes, very rarely though, it does respond and then I can cast. Thing is, clicking it a billion times just to cast one measly magic missile makes the game kinda unplayable.

Same things happens in pretty much all other games using the engine. I can't cast in neither BG1 and 2.

You can only cast limited times between resting. For level 1 mage that is once or twice per resting time

I know that. I'm not an idiot. Thing is I can't even get the casting window to open because the button is not responding.

Yeah sorry that sounded much ruder than what it was supposed to be. Can't say I've run into such a bug though
