Spoiler alert!

So my fighter/thief died during the lengthy against Brother Poquelin, but since the game instantly enters a “cinematic” and teleports you to Easthaven when he dies, I ended up in Easthaven missing a ton of equipment, as he was also carrying my bag of holding and a bunch of other things, as he is naked when I raise him.

I also wasn’t done exploring the area. Unfortunately I can’t find a way to leave Easthaven now despite exploring the whole area. So it looks like I have to enter the crystal and finish up whatever is in there.

Is the crystal a very quick deal after which I can return to where I left off and get my things or is it a more involved affair? If so, I’ll probably just move on to a different game rather than replay the battle against Poquelin until no one dies.

As I read the Wiki:

- Yes, you can only exit Frozen Easthaven by entering the tower. You cannot return to earlier areas. You cannot return to acquire your lost equipment from the prior battle.
- Once you enter the tower, you cannot exit it to return to Frozen Easthaven.
- When you finish clearing the tower, you will find and fight the final boss of the game. There are no additional zones after you clear all the floors of the tower.
If you are willing to enable and use the cheat console, there are a few ways forward:

- The cheat console can warp your party to any area in the game. If you know or can find the area code for where your gear was lost, you can warp back there to retrieve it. However, the game may (or may not) have a script that monitors that area and triggers the cutscene again when it notices you are back there and Poquelin is still dead.
- The cheat console can create any item in the game, if you know its item code. Creating a new Bag of Holding from the same item code as the one you lost would give you access to the contents of the lost bag, because the bag is just a portal to the actual storage.
- If the cheat console is enabled, you can point at any unit in the game and press Ctrl-Y to deal more than 1000 damage to it. Enemies not immune to death for plot reasons will be instantly slain - though you get no experience for such a death. You might be able to replay the Poquelin fight and use Ctrl-Y to instantly end the fight.
Thanks for your replies.

I took a look at a walkthrough and it seems like it’s the ending area. I decided to bite the sour apple and reload as I also had a ton of unresolved quests in progress before the game ambushed me with the railroad ending.
Reloaded, went around Dorn’s Deep turning in my various quests, returned to the Shattered Hand to complete more quests, went to Kuldahar to sell my extra loot, then returned to Dorn’s Deep. Since I knew the fight was coming I buffed my party beforehand and the Revered Brother died almost immediately. So now I’m back at Easthaven. :-)
