Can you create an ELF druid in the enhanced edition too, like the original?

I'm playing IDEE on Android, but the answer appears to be negatory.

I think the EE Infinity Engine games are using ToB's race, class, and kit combinations, plus the extras added by EE. There are also two add'l kits for priests in IDEE that aren't part of BG1EE or BG2EE.

Damn! Believe it or not, one of the reasons i liked Icewind Dale 1 TOO much, had been the ability of creating an ELF druid. Which could not happen in BG...

Yep. Reported to our bug tracker, as they should be able to.
It's...weird that in one you can but not the other one. Since I don't usually create many druid characters I failed to see this, but i have to ask, is it really a bug? or is it a game designer decision?
It is a ruleset issue. Icewind Dale 1 uses rules that allow elves to become druids, and even if you want, to use a 3 ruleset edition sneak attack, instead of the 2.0 and 2.5 backstab thief ability. Different rules, different mechanisms...

The enhanced editions, follow the kits, the classes and the combos, that can be done in Baldur's Gate, plus some new classes, like dwarven defender, that come from neverwinter knights.

In the original, you could make an elf druid, and if memory serves well, it had been justified lore-wise, too. Elf druid is pretty badass, mostly because of resistances. And the dexterity bonus. I was very disappointed to see that in the enhanced (which i purchsed mostly to say "thank you" to GoG for bringing it here, and complete my collection), you cannot make one such character.

Also, i liked more the system of original icewind. It favored multiclass combos BIG time... And it wasn't an exact copy of BG2, rules and mechanisms wise... It had its own unique style.

I see. So the EE is basicaly Baldur's Gate 2 combat pasted on top of Icewind Dale's story? along with a bg's kits and so? I never did find the combat particularly diferent from one game to another, though what always stroke me as "diferent" were the classes and kits available.

Yes, roughly it is as you estimated above. Damn, they shouldn't touch anything in the remake! Adding kits is one thing, but emulating another game mechanisms and ruleset is totally another!

I agree, hm, I guess "maybe" it's a case wher I should play it before forming an opinion but I'm kind of a traditionalist in temrs of keeping to a game's roots so... I don't know.

My 2e lore is a little rusty, but IIRC sylvan elves--the most common elves--were allowed druids as a class, whereas the other elven subraces were not. BG/BG2 interpret that as no elven druids; IWD interprets that as elven druids allowed.

Ah, it would be more a question of regional elves then; in Baldur's Gate we have the city elves or other types of subraces available, which wouldn't be druids, but in ID the sylvan elves are the most close to the game's region? ... I kind of like that then, but still.. it would be preferable if they explained that.
