Playing Iwd2 with gemrb and cannot level up. Using the latest build on Sourceforge - 0.8.0. This is a known problem. Have been told that this can be worked around using Near Infinity and Dalekeeper2.
Cannot find dk2 anywhere. Links point to mud-master.com and that site has no content anymore. Can anyone suggest another set of tools to use, with a guide if possible.
Thanks, PK

Could not get success with that link yesterday. Will try again. If you know of a guide to using the software that would be great too.

Try this (scroll to the bottom) - http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/IWD2/index_editors.php

Found the file by googling the name in the end. Still cannot access anything via sorcerers place.

Because their download pages are crammed with spam and forced advertising. They don't look very trustworthy - bad place for downloads if you ask me.

I concur. Sorcerer's Place is often riddled with outsourced advertising malware, and has been a known virus vector. Downloaders beware!
I don't like the site bit feel fairly safe while running Linux. Now I have the software (from a general file download site), where do I find a guide to using it for leveling my characters? Used to neverwinter nights where utilities have more documentation..

What exactly is the problem with leveling? Are you not getting enough XP? Does the UI not work? What?
Have the XP. Running on android and the gui will not allow levelling up. Known issue with gemrb.

Near Infinity and Dalekeeper2 are supposed to allow levelling via editing the saved game. Not sure how to go about this.

Then that is virtually a fatal flaw, because if you use an editor, each and every time you level up you will need to take into account HP, skill points, feats, saving throws, spells (if divine) etc. Each and every time. No user manual for an editor will teach you how to do this, and it's not simple. Sure, you could just insert a new level number, but that won't take all of the other things into account. A no-win situation, I fear.

Ouch, so not so simple. Fiddling around with DK2, it is actually fairly straightforward to use. I know the basics of 3.0 ruleset from NWN, but so far have only adjusted HP and levels.

Was hoping to find a "level adjustment wizard", but seems that is not available. So I would need to compute all the relevant changes and enter them. NWN2 has a web-based character builder that might help. Not sure if I have the patience. Might need to put the game on hold until I can upgrade GemRB to level-up "out of the box".

Well, thanks for the advice so far.

I'm going to mark this thread as Answered after summarising where I have got to. Maybe someone else can use this as a resource and take it further.

1. It probably is possible to level up your party using Dalekeeper 2, and reimport on Android to continue playing. DK2 seems to have all the functionality needed - I'm not sure why Near Infinity was also mentioned in the response by NotJabba when I originally asked a related question in the gibberlngs3 forum:

http://gibberlings3.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=26907

2. As Hickory says, levelling up means adjusting HP, skill points, feats, saving throws, spells (if divine) etc, for each character, using DK2. Given that one wrong entry can break the saved game completely, this is too much work for me to be worth it. On the plus side, DK2 always saves to a new file so that you can always go back to the original.

3. One way to compile all the needed changes in a structured way would be to use the 3.0 ruleset spreadsheet developed for Neverwinter Nights:

http://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/other/tool/characterbuildcalculator-cbc

It does not have races like Aasimar and Drow, and the feats won't match precisely with IWD2, but it generates skill points, saving throws and spells per level for you.
