I've owned IWD:EE on Steam for a while now, and put about 17 hours into it in the past, but now when I've reinstalled it I can't even get past character creation before the game closes. I get about 5 minutes into building a new character before IWD just goes away. No error message, no "Icewind Dale has stopped working", the game just closes.

Anybody else had this issue and found a solution? Google showed me other people saying they had this problem, but I didn't find anyone who'd posted a solution.
