Hi,

I just started IWD2 and I think I like the new D&D3 rules. However I am curious about my ranger.

I have some second thoughts on having started with a Rogue instead (my other members are Paladin, Barb, Druid, Cleric, Wizard).

So the question is:

What should I do with my Ranger?

a. Keep it (double-wielding or not?)
b. Multiclass it as Ranger/Rogue in order to get some nice thieving abilities and feats

I also wanted to know if Multiclassing is worthy in IWD2.

I get the feeling that IWD2 is more difficult than IWD1 and so is getting exp points. So maybe multiclassing is more "expensive", in general.

Thanks for your time,
Chris
The druid, cleric and wizard shouldn't be multiclassed at all, being stuck with low level spellcasting when you're supposed to be able to cast high level spells can get very difficult. Even if you don't find scrolls to scribe fast enough for your wizard at some points in the game you still get higher casting levels and more spells per day.

Keeping the barbarian pure class is also a good idea since you'll get access to greater rage and the very useful damage reduction at high levels.

If you want to multiclass your paladin be aware that you cannot take a paladin level again ever if you take another than the special class (fighter for paladin of helm).

If you play a multiclass rogue it's always better to start as rogue since you get more skillpoints at the start this way.
You don't need a rogue in your party, traps can be triggered instead of slowly searched and disarmed, locks can be bashed or opened with the knock spell, pickpocket isn't needed.
If you can don't mind triggering traps instead of disarming them there's no need to add any rogue level at all, especially since you don't get BAB for your first rogue level.
You might want to take a single point in lockpicking as cross class skill for one character so you get the "unconventional lock" message which tells you that you picking, bashing or casting knock is useless.

Dualwielding is not as effective as using 2-handed weapons but since your ranger gets the feats for free and you have 4 quick weapon slots it won't hurt putting 2 weapons into one of them and trying it out.
