Hello,

Before I get into my issue-- I just wanted to express my gratitude for keeping these wonderful infinity engine games alive. These are the types of games I can just keep coming back to time, and time again.

Now that being said there's an issue with my music for IWD2. Everything is in the directory perfectly fine, music does sparse play but I'm in Chapter 5 now and I've only heard combat music twice. I've searched all over these boards but it seems that no one else is having this issue.

EAX is turned off as well but no good.

Keep EAX off for now as well as "Windows NT Smooth Sound".

If you're running Windows XP, open dxdiag (press Windows-Key+R to open "Run dialog" => type dxdiag) and lower Sound hardware acceleration on the Sound tab. Maybe that helps.

Thank you for replying...

So I have both options turned off and they aren't causing the lack of music. My OS is Windows 7 and I have Bose Companion 5 as speakers. The speakers themselves are strange, they don't require a sound card and when plugged in they change the audio on the PC to 5.1.

I used the windows compatibility toolkit to force direct draw to deal with some frame rate issues but I don't see an option for sound. The other strange thing is that the Bose have never caused a problem in BGII.
What exactly do you mean by "combat music"?
Music that plays every time you engage an enemy like it does (mostly) in Baldur's Gate 2?
Cause in that case I'm afraid that's not going to happen:
Icewind Dale 2 lacks specific "battle tracks" for the most part.

There are a few tracks like that, e.g. at the battle for the heartstone or at the fight with some minor and major bosses, but the game lacks a "generic" battle music that starts up at every battle, regardless of the area you're in.

If that's not what you're missing, have you taken a look into your \music folder to see if anything's missing there?
