Does anyone know if the GOG version fixed this feat? If not, is there any way to get it fixed?

Gog versions only contain official patches, so no.
No one ever managed to fix it perfectly, there's a workaround you can download at sorcerers.net or other locations. I'd just ignore this feat instead.
