Since picking up and installing IWD2, I've been tossing around the idea of going with an all +ECL party (i.e. Drow, Deep Gnome, Grey Dwarf, Aasimar, Tiefling) - even though I won't be finished my latest run of IWD1 and BG1 anytime soon.

Not sure exactly what classes and how many party members. I figure less than 6, as that will help offset the level adjustment with more XP per member.

Anyone done this? If so, how did it go and what was your party?

Several years ago a guy (?) named Jukka came up with two 4 member ECL 'power' parties - one for melee (2 Drow, 2 Deep Gnome), the other for arcane (1 Deep Gnome, 1 Aasimar, 2 Drow). Both parties have options for adding one or two extra characters.

Was an interesting read at the time but I never tried them :

I imagine that this would make the very beginning of the game much harder, as getting your party to level 2 is the first step to them not dying as much. However, I'm sure it would even out later on, where party level isn't quite as important as the tactics you use.
My first time through I made a Tiefling and 5 Drow party and made it through the entire game.
I didn't realize how hard it was until I made a normal party later on. Just prepare to load and save a lot in fights. When you have only have 4-10 HP for the prologue and chapter 1 prepare to die a lot.
